Home and Gone Again

Just like that, we were home, got the A/C fixed at the house, winterized the camper, got haircuts, packed up the car, and headed out again.

Picture it- a quiet cold morning, nestled snug in your bed, awake but just enjoying the rest and then you hear it. Footsteps of a little human steeping lively down the stairs. Then gleeful off key singing is heard…

🎶On the road again. I just can’t wait to get on the road again, going places I may never see again. I can’t wait to get on the road again.🎶

Tuck is singing one of his two favorite traveling songs. (The other being Country Roads by John Denver).

I hear him stop in the kitchen to talk with Trev and then the light comes streaming in as he opens my bedroom door and bounds onto the bed stilling singing his little heart out.

My warm toesies haven’t even hit the cold floor yet and here I am being serenaded to get out of bed and get this show in the road.

So I join in on the singing. And I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Most things are already packed. I mainly just need to get our sheets and towels laundered before we leave and put the cold food in the cooler.

So this time when we leave, we are gone for six months. We purchased a StowAway for the car. We put our bulky weather clothes, ski bibs, extra items, etc in it. Each of us has one suitcase. Tuck has a carry-on size and the rest of us have regular size. I also have a bag of shoes and Trev has a backpack. I read all kinds of blogs about reducing packing but I couldn’t get it down any further. I’m sure I could if I absolutely had to but I think I did okay considering we will need clothes for three different seasons.

It’s not pretty but it’s all in there. Off we go. We will drive across a state we’ve been to get to our first real stop in a state with some crooked letters and humpbacks.

  1. Good luck! We have one of the Stowaway’s and absolutely love it! Are you hitting up Colorado for skiing? If you do … I totally recommend Steamboat, CO! My parents are there right now at their vacation condo and the snow it AMAZING!

    1. That’s good to hear about the Stowaway. We weren’t sure if it was a good sector if it would just be a hassle. So far so good. Colorado and Utah are weather dependent. We are going to try and hit Utah in the winter because there are several national parks we want to go to. But we’re still not sure if we have time to hit Colorado in the winter or if it will have to wait until the summer. The boys want to play in the snow pretty bad. We went to Steamboat back when I was pregnant with Mason and really enjoyed it. (The trip was planned before I knew I was pregnant). The rest of the fam skiied and snowmobiled while I stayed at the condo and made snow angles. We all drove out to this really cool place where we took an evening sleigh ride and ate dinner in this huge teepee. I’d love to go back and actually get to ski. I’m glad you’re parents are having a wonderful time. Maybe they can save us some snow. 😉
