I don’t know why but our whole family loves Pigeon Forge, TN. More specifically, Dollywood. We love it.
But before we got to Dollywood, we stayed at Wilderness at the Smokies. They were running a Groupon special so we got our room, access to the waterpark, and two all stay adventure passes. Pretty sweet deal. The first day the boys swam and rode water slides and Tuck gave it a go at body surfing.
Then we headed over to meet our sweet friends the Lopezs at Dollywood. Tucker and Jackson are big buddies.
The next day we stayed dry in the Adventure Zone at Wilderness, with putt putt, laser maze, mini bowling, rock wall climbing, and a ropes course.
Mason and Trevor don’t enjoy heights but I was proud of them both for getting up on the ropes course.
After lunch we headed over to the Dreammore (one of my favorite places to stay) and we hung out at the pool with the Lopezs before we all headed over to the Pirates Voyage Dinner Theater. The show was entertaining. I loved the seals. The boys enjoyed it and the food was okay. I thought it was pricey at around $200 for the four of us. But you get dinner and a show. I would do it once but I don’t know if I would come back and see it over and over. Then it was back to Dreammore for s’mores and playground time before bed.
The next morning we went to Dollywood to try to beat the heat. Ha! No such luck. Tucker was SUPER excited because he is now 48 inches tall, which means he can ride all the rides by himself, except for the Wild Eagle. This was one happy boy! He rode every coaster and the Drop Line multiple times. The boy is fearless!
We road rides for a couple hours and came back the the Dreammore for lunch in the room and waited on our dear friends, the Lowmans to arrive.
We hung out with them at the pool and then headed back to Dollywood around 5pm.
It was great. Once the sun started going down it wasn’t near as hot and the park wasn’t crowded at all. We hit it at a great time. We rode rides and viewed all the pumpkins Dollywood had displayed. The kids wanted s’mores and playground time but it was almost past my bedtime and definitely past theirs so off to bed we went.
In the morning, we went to the playground but it was hot so that didn’t last long. We hit the pool and then after some quiet time in the room we headed over to the park again. The Depriest Family came to the park and we were able to spend time with them too. Mason and Joshua are good buddies from school. While we were at the park we also ran into several other kids from school.
Tuck’s teacher from last year, Mrs. Greene, was there. When he found out she was there, he looked at me and said, “Where is she? We have to search the whole park and find her.” Ha! It was so sweet. Of course, I immediately text her to warn her that she was being hunted. I thought it was only fair to give her a fighting chance to run. Hee. Hee. She is an amazing teacher! They had already left the park but mentioned they were going to come back to see the pumpkins. Sure enough, when her family came back to the park, she text me so we could meet up. Tucker was so excited to see her. It was such a sweet blessing to for the boys to see her and some of their friends. They really enjoyed it.
We checked out of the hotel the next morning and headed over for one more morning of Dollywood. I told you, we love ourselves some Dollywood. The Depriests came back for an hour or two. The Lowmans decided to head to Gatlinburg.
After lunch we were headed home. Not the next hotel home but our actual real home. We will be there a few weeks taking care of a few things at home before we head south for the winter in the camper. Yay!!
